Cowles is from the Quashnet School in Mashpee. Beides being cited for overall expertise and proficiency, she was especially noted for her outstanding work as a mentor for new school nurses in her district. Cowles, who serves as president of the School Nurse Association of Cape Cod, is eligible for honors as National School Nurse of the Year.
