Karen Roberto, RN is the recipient of the 2003 Bill Doran Award for School Nurse Excellence. Karen is an elementary school nurse from Medford, Massachusetts. She was nominated for this honor by her nurse leader, Eileen DiBattista. Karen has been active in her school in developing an asthma support group for students, has participate in the tar wars program for fourth and fifth grade students, as well as advocated for the use of bike helmets to prevent traumatic brain injuries.
As a recipient of this award, Karen will receive either a $2000 credit to pursue further educational studies or an all expense paid trip to the NASN Conference in Seattle this year. In addition, she will also have her MSNO dues paid for over the next two years. Congratulations Karen!
